Why not just WordPress?

WordPress is easy to use, and has lots of possibilities out-of-the-box (or with plugins that are mostly free). There is a reason lots of sites run on it. And for lots of company's this suits their needs, but if you want big customization in your site (like connecting with external API's, automate things the way you want) WordPress can have some things I personally don't like.

Silverstripe is my go-to CMS, because of its simplicity in the beginning (for both developer as CMS editor), the availability of lots of "default" plugins (contact forms, blogs, comments, SEO-modules etc).
But when I need to make some API connections or other custom things, it stays simple to do it in the way I need.
